It’s out with the old and in with the new, again!
Microsoft has announced a firm date for our OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to stop building machines that have Windows 7 Home (Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate) pre-loaded on them.
That date is October 31, 2016 for Windows 7 and 8.1 (and June 31, 2016 for Windows 8)
After that date, you will need to use downgrade rights or exercise Software Assurance rights with volume license agreements to run the old version on new hardware.
So, if you are in love with the older operating systems, or you have software which requires it, you should plan accordingly.
